The expansion of the international stabilization force for Gaza is taking shape, with Albania and Kosovo now included in the list of participating countries.
According to a report by Israeli media outlet i24 News, Albania and Kosovo are expected to join a mission that also includes Morocco, Indonesia, Greece, and Kazakhstan.
Indonesia is expected to contribute the largest contingent – up to 8,000 troops – forming the core of the operation.
If officially confirmed, involvement in a stabilization force in Gaza would position Albania in a delicate mission, with strong political and regional dimensions, at a time when the Middle East remains one of the most unstable global areas.
For Kosovo as well, participation would be an important development in diplomatic and security terms.
Kosovo has consistently expressed support for Israel in recent developments in the region, and inclusion in this mission would also have a symbolic political dimension.
The international force will be deployed in areas already under Israeli control, behind a security buffer zone. According to sources, the mission is not expected to become operational before May.
However, the participation of key regional actors, such as Jordan and Saudi Arabia, which have not yet given their consent to join the operation, remains unclear.
The expansion of the list to include Albania and Kosovo signals broader international involvement, but the success of the mission will depend on political consensus and the final security architecture on the ground.
An expected meeting in Washington, meanwhile, under the banner of the Peace Board, called by US President Donald Trump and with confirmed participation by Prime Minister Edi Rama and Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, could reaffirm this plan to have Albanian and Kosovar forces in the peacekeeping mission.
Given that it has been stated that a sum of $5 billion will be expected to be raised through contributions from Peace Board members and that Albania and Kosovo may not be in strong positions for economic donations, a military investment may be more likely.
