Prime Minister Edi Rama handed over the passport and identity card of the Republic of Albania to the former mayor of New York, Eric Adams, during the IV Diaspora Summit.
At the ceremony, Rama did not leave the moment without humor, telling Adams that he will soon learn the Albanian language.
"We are the only ones who can say: I had this job! Now it has been handed over, who has the courage to take this opportunity," said Rama.
He added that in addition to the documents, Adams is getting a special experience in Albania:
"I know you're familiar with this, but what happens here is different: here everything opens up and grows."
"This is your ID, this is your Albanian passport. We will soon learn Albanian too. Dear Erik, welcome to Albania."
