Two American congresswomen, Claudia Tenney and Chrissy Houlahan, have sent a letter to the American president, proposing mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.
As Republican Congresswoman Tenney herself announced, who published the letter on social media, they call on Donald Trump to broker an agreement to normalize relations, which would include long-term peace and mutual recognition.
“Having met with key government officials in both Serbia and Kosovo, we believe that you and your administration have a unique moment in history to enable a lasting and lasting peace between these two key states in the Balkans. We therefore encourage you to use your influence to help achieve a normalization agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, perhaps by visiting both of them. We believe that a possible peace settlement and mutual recognition will create the conditions for a more stable and peaceful Balkans.”
The two congresswomen emphasize that tensions between the two countries have brought ripple effects in the fragile region as they warn that instability in the Balkans is a precursor to global conflicts.
Today, @RepHoulahan and I sent a bipartisan letter to President Trump encouraging him to help deliver a lasting Serbia-Kosovo peace deal.

The Serbian movement "We are the Power of the People", while announcing the news, recalls that the congresswoman who wrote the letter was awarded the Order of the Serbian Flag during her visit to Belgrade, therefore the mutual recognition initiative can be interpreted as something that has Belgrade's blessing.
