Member of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS), Ledio Braho, gave a statement to the media today from the "Farie Hoti" Sports Palace in Tirana, where the vote recount process for the Tirana, Fier and Elbasan districts is taking place.

"CEC staff is counting the votes. When the votes were questionable, the KAS decided. Less than 10 percent of the votes were counted. The major parties lost votes in the process," said the KAS member.

Braho added that the process is still in its early stages and there can currently be no talk of any balance or massive voter fraud.

"The process is at its beginning and we cannot make a balance sheet now to say to what extent vote fraud has occurred."

"So far, for those ballots that have been consulted with the KAS, there have been controversial issues, we cannot even call them human errors, but they are issues of subjectivity of the counting groups. If in the future we see massive voter fraud from the same counting group, then we cannot say that they are human errors but intentional, we have not had such a case so far," said Braho.

Regarding the pace of the recount process, Braho expressed dissatisfaction with yesterday's progress, where only 87 polling stations were counted. According to the KAS member, the Tirana district poses a particular challenge due to the large number of candidates on the ballot, around 500, which requires more time to verify each vote.

"We were dissatisfied with yesterday's pace of counting because about 87 polling centers were counted. Today, measures have been taken to divide the process into two rounds, making it a longer process, and so that the counters can be replaced. We hope to move at a faster pace, but we must keep in mind that the Tirana district has a ballot with about 500 candidates and it requires more physical time to evaluate each ballot, adding to this the pressure from observers who deal with the dots with the signs, with the paintings, making the process slower," said Braho.

Braho concluded the statement by emphasizing the importance of transparency and fairness in this recount process, underlining that KAS will closely follow each case.
