Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed his sadness over the death of the famous Italian singer-songwriter Toto Cutugno.

Through a post on Facebook, Rama reveals that he had planned to meet Cutugno this summer in Vlora, but "God decided" that he should rest in peace.

Toto Cutugno passed away today at the age of 80 after a serious illness. He is known and loved by the Albanian public with his well-known songs such as "L'Italiano", "Solo noi", "Insieme", "Il tempo se ne va" and many others.

Prime Minister Edi Rama's message:                                                                               

You were a great, true Italian, we were supposed to meet this summer in Vlora, but God decided to let you rest in peace, while your songs remain forever recorded in the hearts of many Albanians.

Thanks for everything Toto Cutugno It was a privilege to live together with a legend like you
