Prime Minister Edi Rama , at the annual meeting of the Diaspora Coordination Council, stated that emigrants are an important financial support for the country.

Rama said that the Bank of Albania has recorded a significant increase in emigrant remittances in euros compared to a year ago.

He emphasized that he is very proud to have enabled immigrants to pronounce the word "I am Albanian."

"A question that Albanians have had a hard time articulating due to prejudices against them, but also the lack of a background offered by their homeland that could give them the security, peace and pride of saying I am from Albania. It is a dramatic phase that has been overcome," said the head of government.

Edi Rama: The diaspora remains an important financial support for the country. This year, the Bank of Albania has recorded a significant increase in emigrant remittances in euros compared to the previous year, they are 100 million euros plus, the largest remittances are from Italy, the USA.

This is in addition to the significant income generated by our economic growth, which is the result of a series of important reforms, but I believe that it is above all the result of Albania's new political positioning. I am very proud of the fact that we have managed to enable all Albanians, starting with those living abroad, to pronounce the Albanian name with their mouths and to answer with their mouths "I am Albanian" when asked where they are from.

A question that Albanians have not had an easy time articulating due to prejudices against them, but also the lack of a background offered by their homeland that could give them the security, peace and pride of saying I am from Albania. It is a dramatic phase that has been overcome. It took time, and we had to experience at a high level of relations that unpleasant feeling, to put it mildly, that for many years has caused Albanians to look with an underestimating eye where they have appeared as Albanians.,

It has given us the opportunity to rise to positions unimaginable years ago.
