Greece has imposed conditions on Albania's membership in the European Union; respect for the rights of the Greek minority in our country, linking it to the events of MEP Fredi Beleri, a dark figure with a dubious past, in addition to being convicted three times in Albania and Greece.
After Greek Foreign Minister George Gjerapetriti stated the condition, it seems that Greek MEPs have already received their boss's message and have launched a denunciation campaign against Albania in the European Parliament.
One of them, but apparently not the last, the Greek MEP from New Democracy, Dimitris Tsiodras, accused our country today in the European Parliament as a state that does not respect the rights of the Greek minority.
"Take for example what is happening in Albania, which ignores the human and property rights of the Greek ethnic minority. Our colleague, Fredi Beleris, was convicted precisely because he defended these rights. These issues have been referred to in the Council decisions, together with the necessity for North Macedonia to respect its bilateral agreements.
"Treaties are international documents, legally binding on the parties involved, and they cannot be modified unilaterally," he said.
He concluded by saying that "enlargement must continue, but candidate countries must demonstrate their commitment to this path in tangible ways."
