Rama: We must meet the criteria for EU integration within 2 years

Prime Minister Edi Rama is holding a meeting with the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group today. The meeting is taking place at the Brigades Palace and is expected to end around 3:00 PM.

This meeting takes place a few days before the start of the parliamentary session for 2026, where Rama said that within 2 years the conditions for Albania's integration into the EU must be met. 

"In just 2 years, Albania has fulfilled all the conditions to close the membership negotiations, as is clear from the plan we have on the table, agreed with the EU, and as we have made clear to public opinion.

Even today, even within the group, let alone within the party, there is no clear understanding of what it means in terms of the challenge and burden of obligations to fulfill the conditions to successfully exit the negotiation process and then fulfill the conditions to face inclusion in a new reality such as the reality of a market of 450 million people, where an integrated Albania will be a drop in the ocean. The challenge for the entire productive sector and for institutions will be multiple", said Rama.
