The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, from the city of Lezha, at a meeting on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the founding of the DP, mentioned one of the most difficult moments for the opposition in its history, the pyramid schemes that caused civic revolts in 1997.

Berisha said that the DP took responsibility for a mistake, according to him, made unintentionally, but still accepted the will of the people who punished it with votes.

"After recognizing our mistake, we made the most fair legal solution, we addressed the problems that had arisen in the most fair and honest way."

We did not consciously agree to commit immoral acts, to take the money of those who had not invested a single penny in pyramid schemes and give it to those who had lost it, no, we followed moral standards, regardless of the price we might pay.

And again, Albanians appreciated this. Albanians saw in us a political force with morality. A political force that left the chair, appeared in public trial, took responsibility, but remained honest in its morality.

"He did not deceive the citizens. Remember, my rival told the citizens we will return every penny ," Berisha said.

Berisha issued a warning to Prime Minister Edi Rama during a meeting with supporters in Lezha, describing him as the "most dangerous criminal" at the head of state.

"Never forget that there is no more dangerous criminal and a bigger thief anywhere than Edi Rama in government, Taulant Balla at the head of the Parliamentary Group and Lubi Balluku and others," Berisha said.

He accused Rama of not respecting judicial decisions and of seeking to use immunity to protect officials involved in scandals, mentioning the head of the National Anti-Corruption Agency and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

Berisha warned that any attempt to obstruct justice will bring consequences, addressing Rama: “If you obstruct justice, you will end up like your spiritual father, Enver Hoxha.”

"Never forget that there is no more dangerous criminal, no greater thief, anywhere than Edi Rama in the government, than Taulant Balla at the head of the Parliamentary Group, than Lubi Balluku and others. No, no, there is nothing comparable, nothing. We must see things as they are.

He says to the democrats and Albanians: "I have stolen from you and you have nothing to do." I am telling you from Lezha, if you obstruct justice, you will have the fate of your spiritual father, Enver Hoxha. Did you believe that after you left the sick in hospitals without medicine, children in schools without heating, the lowest salaries and pensions in the region, after you built your paradise with Albanian money and were caught with documents for all this, do you think you will use immunity?
