The Socialist Party has requested the deregistration of Sali Berisha's candidate for the Municipality of Shijak, Rezeart Tusha, the latter expelled from Switzerland in 1997 for possession of narcotics. 

In the letter that was signed by Eridian Salianji, Secretary for Legal and Electoral Affairs of the SP, it is stated that the Commissioner should conduct a full and quick investigation against Tusha, as according to their assessment, he does not meet the legal criteria to be a candidate.

" Currently, the CEC has the opportunity to offer the voters of Shijak Municipality a candidacy that guarantees "public trust in the function of the elected state bodies" and in this context the candidate Rezeart Tusha does not offer this guarantee at all.

Termination of candidacy by deregistration at this stage, in an eventuality, protects and guarantees the democratic functioning of local government bodies ", the document states.

Sali Berisha's candidate for the Municipality of Shijak, Rezart Tusha, was deported from Switzerland as part of the "Hydra" operation in 1997, for possession of narcotics, and was banned from entering Switzerland for five years, a criminal offense that according to decriminalization law disqualifies you from the race for mayor.
