The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has asked the Special Prosecution Office to question him about January 21, as there is evidence that could help shed light on that event.
Asked about Meta's request, opposition leader Sali Berisha does not rule out the possibility that his ally, now in detention, has information since until a few days before the event he held the position of Deputy Prime Minister.
"What does Ilir Meta know, of course he may know that he was deputy prime minister, but Ilir Meta on January 14 or 15, that is, before January 21, came to my office and told me that I would resign because I would not go to the prosecutor's office as deputy prime minister," says Berisha.
The leader of the DP also revealed a conversation with Dritan Prifti a few days before January 21, when the wiretap video between the latter and Ilir Meta in the office of the Minister of Energy had not yet been released.
" Sali Berisha, the prime minister, had first listened to Dritan Prifti, or he was asked by Dritan Prifti to appoint him to another important position, or else there is a recording. My word was this: get out as soon as you leave my office door. Get out. This is the truth. Never, never can anyone take me hostage ," says Berisha.
