The declaration of journalist Artan Hoxha as persona non grata by Greece has nothing to do with his case, according to Fredi Beleri. The MEP said that he has resolved the issues with journalist Hoxha in court.
"I'm reading that it was revenge for the Beleri case. The declaration of Mr. Hoxha as non grata has nothing to do with the Beleri case. I have confronted Mr. Hoxha in court. He continues to slander and express his opinions on the news. Someone needs to put a barrier on him," Beleri said on "Off the Record" on A2 CNN.
Beleri stated that the Greek media has today announced the reasons for the non grata declaration, but according to him, journalism should cleanse itself and not slander.
"The Beleri case has nothing to do with the detention of Mr. Hoxha, the Greek media wrote the reason today. I have no official information. I have faced and am still in Albanian courts, he has evaded and the police could not find him to give him the summons. Public figures have the right to protection of private life, you cannot speak by slandering. Journalists themselves must cleanse themselves and we must have decent journalism," Beleri emphasized.
