"Repent, dog," is how Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj begins his next reaction from his cell. Dwelling on the details of the investigative file, Veliaj writes that the Special Court left him in prison arguing that "the person poses a very high social danger... he has not shown any signs of reflection at any moment...".
Erion Veliaj's full reaction
"Repent, dog! Warm greetings to each of you and gratitude for your support."
For the last two days I have been deconstructing the childish reasoning that I should stay in prison, that I should not leave the country when I have returned 3 times, and that I should not destroy the evidence when, from the children's toys to the Instagram statuses, they are in the hands of Ols and Samet. Ols Ban's third and final argument why I should be in prison is on page 278 of the decision, where I quote (please don't laugh):
'The person poses a very high social risk... at no time has he shown any signs of reflection... The Court assesses that the most appropriate measure is imprisonment.'
Yes, yes, don't be surprised, black on white! So, Zeni, who burned 26 people alive, and Zeni's father, who killed 4 people with bullets in the flesh, do not pose a danger. But the one who plants trees, opens bike lanes, builds schools and parks, should be put in prison because he is dangerous.
The stereotype that if you work, fight and leave deeds that produce victories for your team, you will be attacked until you surrender, as if to say "there is no good luck". Well, I do not accept this! I reject it with disgust. This cannot be a place where those who kill are free, and those who work are in prison. This is not justice! And the funniest thing: I have not shown remorse! But remorse for what? I still have no charges! What is this insurance logic?
"Repent while it's not too late, or we'll rot in prison." This is shameful, but not justice! Have a good day full of kindness."
