Member of the National Council of the Democratic Party and former candidate for MP, Ilir Alimehmeti, has left open the possibility of running for the Municipality of Tirana, while categorically excluding the competition for other leadership positions within the party.

Invited to the "Breaking" studio on Top News, in an interview with moderator Fiori Dardha, Alimehmeti stated that he will not be a candidate for either the chairman of the Democratic Party or for the position of Secretary General.

"Not for both, neither for mayor nor for other positions," he emphasized, adding that in politics he is more of a man of action than of statements.

However, when asked about a possible candidacy for the Municipality of Tirana, he did not rule out this possibility, emphasizing that the process depends on how the competitions within the DP will be organized.

Alimehmeti announced that the party's statute is currently being reviewed, which will determine whether the primary system or another form of candidate selection will be applied.

"A very political decision is needed for Tirana and it will not be simple," he said, underlining that his objective has always been the same and remains unchanged.
