The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, has a reaction regarding the protest that will take place this Monday, April 6, in Skopje.
Through a post on 'X', he says that the demand of Albanian students in North Macedonia to take the exam in Albanian is fair and legitimate.
"The use of the #mother tongue is a fundamental right, guaranteed by the #Constitution of #NorthMacedonia and the Law on the Use of #Languages, which cannot and should not be restricted or delayed by any procedure. If the procedures prove to be deficient or unclear, it is an institutional obligation to find just and sustainable solutions."
This is an issue that requires a measured and responsible approach, far from any attempt at #politicization. It must be addressed with institutional seriousness and in the spirit of respect for fundamental rights.
#Democracies not only have the mechanisms, but also the necessary maturity to find solutions that harmonize the rule of law, legislation, and citizens' rights.
"The #Students deserve to be congratulated for their civic engagement and the democratic way in which they have articulated their demand. This requires a response with the same standard of #responsibility, through constructive dialogue and solutions that fully respect guaranteed rights," Hoxha writes.
Albanian university students in North Macedonia will protest today from 12:30, demanding that the bar exam be held in Albanian. They are calling for mass participation, describing this as a fight for the protection of the language.
The protest will start from Karposhovo Vostanie Square and end at the Ministry of Justice. Police warn of special traffic measures and ask citizens to respect the instructions of officers.
