The leader of the "Albania Becomes" party, Adriatik Lapaj, has commented on the accusations leveled against him during the last quarter. Appearing on "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews, Lapaj stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama is behind all the attacks against him, including the situation with the leader of the "Mundësia" party, Agron Shehaj. Regarding the latter, the leader of "Albania Becomes", he implies that he is a puppet used by Rama himself to attack.
Adriatik Lapaj: Rama does not come out openly. Mr. Rama is the author of all that has happened, my attack of the last three months. Be convinced, of everything that has happened. I am saying that behind every attack that has come to Adriatik Lapaj in the last three months, Mr. Rama is hiding and I have information in advance. I have known about the puppets that he is bringing out since three months ago. I was not born today in this country, I grew up in the squares of this country, I grew up with journalists in this country, I grew up in school at the Faculty of Law. Within Rama's team in all dimensions I have people who receive information, within those who conduct surveys I have people who have information and know it accurately, I know the survey before it comes out. We are a small country. I have detailed information and the kitchen where everything is cooked is there.
But what has happened in recent months between Adriatik Lapaj and Agron Shehaj?
The pair are currently in a legal battle for defamation at the GJKKO. Agron Shehaj's complaint to SPAK came from Lapaj, following public statements made by the leader of the 'Mundësia' party, which he claims are untrue and denigrating towards his professional and public image. Lapaj has stated that there are at least 8 documented cases of defamation.
Shehaj accused Adriatik Lapaj of having received 45 million lek from the company “Merkaj 3 shpk”, seized by SPAK after it was used to launder money for the “Çopjave” criminal group. He denied the accusations, saying that he had not received the money and that it was simply an obligation for services as a lawyer to the company in question.
Shehaj continued with the accusations again, accompanying them with documents, where he said that Lapaj had taken over the registration of a property worth millions of euros that Çopjave's company had purchased on the coast. According to Shehaj, the decision on the property was given by Adriatik Lapaj's father-in-law, Alltun Çela, when he was the president of the Saranda Court. After the lawsuit, Shehaj reacted through a video on social networks, where he said that Lapaj's fight is with justice, to escape from prison.
