From Ilir Rusmali to Lefterie Luzi and Vitore Tusha, the names of 13 candidates

A total of 13 people have shown interest in taking the position of People's Advocate. After the failure of the SP-PD negotiations a few weeks ago, the Assembly reopened the race and several well-known figures have shown interest.

The name that stands out is that of Vitore Tuša, who left the Constitutional Court and is now targeting the People's Advocate. The candidates will hold a hearing in the laws committee. And then it will be voted on in the parliament.

To vote for the new name of the ombudsman, cooperation between the majority and the opposition is needed, with 84 votes. The candidates who have shown interest are: Lefterie Luzi; Alket Jaupi; Faith Correct; Robert Gaida; Endri Papajorgji; Sokol Hazizaj; Drita Avdyli; Ilir Rusmali; Vitore Tusha; Dardan Mustafa; Edison Frangu; Erald Aga and Tartar Bazaj. Meanwhile, this movement comes after the warning of the head of the socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, made a few days ago.

"The opposition had the necessary time to give the country an ombudsman and did not use it. We will open the race. It will be an open process and there is a tradition that the opposition proposes the lawyer, but does not appoint him. The Assembly has the appointment, we need to clarify things. The race should be open and I invite lawyers, or people who meet the criteria to come and run, and then I call on the opposition to negotiate in order to agree," stated Balla.
