The Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu, while answering various questions of the deputies present at the Security Committee for the 2025 budget, said that the Ministry of Defense is determined to rebuild the air fleet for training and emergencies.
"We are also investing in the aviation industry, to invest not only in helicopters, but also in airplanes. The purchase of air vehicles is a priority, as is training and staffing, not only training helicopter pilots, but also airplanes. The goal is to purchase aircraft that serve training needs, but also civil emergencies that may occur or other needs of the country and the army," said Vengu.
He clarified that this will be achieved by dedicating the appropriate budget with measured steps, as well as that of civil emergencies up to 30 million euros to solve the problems of flooding mainly.
Vengu explained that even the military industry of armaments, like factories, the introduction of a production industry machine requires a value of up to 50 million euros. He said that this can also be achieved through agreements with companies from partner countries. The same line can be followed with the naval fleet, according to the minister, within the framework of foreign and security policy.
