The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party in a public statement says that the three judges of the Appeal cannot find the arguments for the imprisonment of former MP Ervin Salianji.

They emphasize that the non-clearance of the court's decision constitutes a denial of the right of MP Salianji to submit an appeal to the Supreme Court and to seek justice at other levels of the judiciary, within a reasonable time.

DP Group Statement:

The political imprisonment of the Vice President of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Ervin Salianji, is being accompanied by another scandal from the Court of Appeal. In flagrant violation of the law, exceeding any legal and reasonable deadline, the judiciary is refusing to clarify the court decision on the basis of which an opposition deputy is in prison.

Today, an opposition deputy is in prison, without a reasoned court decision and without explaining the reasons for this imprisonment. The non-clearance of the court's decision constitutes a denial of the right of MP Salianji to submit an appeal to the Supreme Court and to seek justice at other levels of the judiciary, within a reasonable time.

The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party strongly condemns the continuous violation of the law by judges Elona Toro, Iliba Bezati and Gent Shala, who after unlawfully ordering the political imprisonment of an opposition deputy, continue in brutal violation of the law by not clarifying the reasons for this scandalous decision.

Only totalitarian regimes imprison political opponents without giving any argument or explanation. Only in totalitarian regimes are political opponents imprisoned for freedom of speech and they are denied the opportunity to appeal the decision, through criminal methods of delay in clarifying the court decision.

We understand that the judges are having difficulty finding legal arguments for the political order of a high representative of the opposition, and we find the opportunity to call on Edi Rama and Fatmir Xhafaj, as the real authors of that order, to finish clarifying the decision and send it to the judges for signature without any delay.
