Economy Minister Delina Ibrahimaj said this Wednesday that the price of just over 200 lek for a liter of diesel or gasoline in Albania is within normal limits and the market has not suffered any major increase from the war in the Middle East.

In a press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, the minister emphasized that the government is monitoring fuel clearance prices and prices on the retail market on a daily basis.

"International stock markets have had extraordinary fluctuations since February, with an average price of $700 for fuel and up to $1,200 on peak days. Prices in Albania have not increased significantly, but 10-15%. We believe that we are not yet ready to re-establish the Fuel Board and if we see that there are fluctuations or abuses with profit margins, it will be put into effect. We have set up a team of three ministries and representatives of agencies, who monitor customs clearance prices and prices on tables in the retail market. We are talking about an 8.5% margin from the supply market to retail, a controlled margin," said Minister Delina Ibrahimaj.

She thanked fuel wholesalers in Albania, because as she emphasized, they have guaranteed that they will not earn much money during this period and will maintain a low profit margin.
