The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj , received today in a meeting the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan , who is conducting a state visit to Albania.

Initially, President Begaj and President Erdogan held a face-to-face meeting and then a meeting with the respective delegations.

The conversation focused on the excellent relations between the two countries and the possibilities for these relations to be deepened and strengthened.

"A friend of Albania and Albanians", Begaj considered President Erdogan. "I am very committed to strengthening our fraternal cooperation, a cooperation that remains our priority, a cooperation that was proven by the solidarity of our peoples during the situations caused by the earthquakes", said Begaj.

"This cooperation will see further growth with this visit and with the signing of relevant agreements. I confirm that Albania has a strong will to continue with the advancement of relations in every field of bilateral cooperation. Holding the Second Meeting of the High Level Cooperation Council is a good opportunity to discuss in a deeper and more concrete way bilateral cooperation in areas such as: security, defense, renewable energy, economy and trade, infrastructure, tourism , the environment and other essential issues", said the Head of State.

In the meeting, the importance of Albania-Turkey cooperation, mutual contribution to international organizations, where both countries are members, was emphasized.

The Head of State thanked Erdogan for the help that Turkey has provided before and during the process of Albania's integration into NATO, as well as for the excellent relations that our officers have in joint missions and operations.

The President of the Republic stated that Albania remains committed to exchanging views and opinions on security issues, which are related and have a direct impact on our region and the Middle East.

"Albania has continuously and unreservedly supported the solution with two independent states, living in peace and good neighborliness",  emphasized President Begaj.

President Begaj thanked President Erdogan for helping Albanians and Kosovo in particular. During the conversation, the importance of strengthening bilateral ties through the advancement of economic cooperation projects was also assessed.

"Turkey is among Albania's biggest trading partners. Turkish investments make Turkey the fourth largest trading partner of Albania. We welcome Turkish companies to invest in Albania in various sectors, such as: infrastructure, tourism, energy, technology, agriculture, as well as in the production and processing industry", emphasized President Begaj, during the meeting with Erdoğan.
