The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has started his visit to Tirana. The Turkish Head of State was received with an official ceremony in the Presidency by his Albanian counterpart, President Bajram Begaj.
The two leaders will hold a meeting between them. Afterwards, Erdogan will have a face-to-face meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama, which will be followed by a joint press statement.
Erdogan will also personally participate in the inauguration of the Namazgja Mosque, for which there has been opposition due to his accusation of the leaders of the Albanian Muslim Community, whom Turkey sees as connected to the Gulenist movement.
To ensure the safety and success of Erdogan's visit, the capital city police have taken some measures and will block some roads during his arrival and meetings.
