Prime Minister Edi Rama will travel to Rome today to participate in the first G2G meeting with Italy (Government to Government), a joint meeting of the two governments, in order to further deepen cooperation between the countries, through joint projects, in areas such as the economy, energy, defense or infrastructure.

On Thursday, November 13, Prime Minister Rama will meet with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni and then, together with the delegation of cabinet ministers accompanying him, will participate in the plenary session of the intergovernmental meeting.

Thursday's agenda also includes the exchange of Bilateral Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding.

The Chigi Palace informed earlier that the meeting will take place at 11:30 at Villa Doria.

On the eve of this meeting, the Albanian government approved in principle an agreement for strategic cooperation with the Italian government, in at least 10 fields, from health, energy and the environment to the security industry.

An agreement that is viewed with interest by both governments is the one that foresees the construction of a new underwater line between the two coasts of the Adriatic Sea, which will enable the production and transfer from our country to Italy of energy from renewable sources, such as wind and solar.

Of particular importance is the agreement for the transfer of immigrants from Italy to the centers established in Shëngjin and Gjadra.

Thanks to the cooperation between the two governments, since July 1, around 421 thousand Albanians have had their social contributions recognized for pension purposes. This agreement has brought great relief to thousands of Albanian citizens, but also to thousands of Italians who have worked in both countries, who have had each year of work abroad fully recognized for pension purposes.

For Italy, the November 13 meeting will be the first with a government of a state that is not yet a member of the European Union.
