The Complaints and Sanctions Commission has not been able to find a common position among its members to send the vote counters of the May 11 elections in the Fier district to the prosecutor's office, where significant vote discrepancies were found during the recount process.
For this reason, KAS has sent an official letter to the State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, asking him to launch an administrative investigation. According to them, this investigation should not only be launched for the Fier region, but also for other regions where a recount took place, such as Tirana, Durrës and Elbasan.
In the letter to Celibashi, KAS requests that the CEC identify the counters and then launch an in-depth investigation to uncover those responsible for each counter.
Through this stance, the Complaints and Sanctions Commission leaves it up to Celibashi to decide whether we are dealing with electoral crimes or human errors. "This administrative investigation is important to identify and distinguish cases that constitute administrative offenses, cases with reasonable suspicion of committing criminal offenses in the field of elections, from cases that do not constitute grounds for proceeding," say the members of the KAS.
From the recount process in four districts, the only district that saw changes in the distribution of mandates within the list was Fier. In this district, Zegjine Caushi from the SP list lost her mandate, passing to Maldrita Bardhos.
But, just a few hours after taking office, Bardho announced her resignation from the mandate, leaving her seat in parliament to Zegjine Caushi.
