Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku said in an interview on A2 CNN that it is not the protests, but what the government is doing, that have damaged Albania's image. "Protests only do good. Protests are not done for Brussels or Washington. Protests are done for Albanian citizens," said Tabaku, according to A2. "There is nothing wrong with people protesting. Today, for me, the dangerous path that Albania has taken and that Albania is taking is."

Tabaku said that we have reached a point where we should not focus on what the internationals say. "I will not stop for a moment, not for a day, from cooperating with them and convincing them of what is good and bad. But we must win the minds, the souls, the hearts, the votes of Albanian citizens and our battle must be here," she said.

Tabaku said that the US remains very interested in Albania and the region. "It is true that the United States of America, both as a result of the conflicts, the conflict in Gaza, Russia's attack on Ukraine, but also the change of administration, has certainly had a multitude of priorities to determine," she said.

"But their latest defense and national security act defined the Western Balkans as a priority and defined two priorities that are relevant to us, which is the fight against organized crime and the business climate and strong institutions, which are directly the work of Albanian institutions. It does not mean that we cooperate with our strategic partners by putting their name at the top of the list. We cooperate for standards, for values, for norms that Albania has and should have, just like its partners."

Tabaku added that Prime Minister Rama is not calm about this situation the country is in, despite the public discussions. "He doesn't seem unconcerned to me. Let's see how it will continue. I don't know what political shield it can give, what halo the majority can get at this moment. But I can tell you that what is happening in Tirana is seen with great concern by all the main capitals, from Brussels to Berlin," she said.
