Journalist Blendi Fevziu spoke about the deep defeat of the opposition in the May 14 elections, which he described as beyond all expectations. 

Invited to the show "The Unexposed", Fevziu stated that there are a number of reasons that brought the defeat of the opposition, starting from the gap left by the boycott of the 2019 elections, the wrong campaign, etc. Regarding the allegation of vote-buying, he stated that there is no point in the opposition articulating this claim for a decade because it would make them look "incompetent". 

"The result was beyond expectations. A result similar to 2015 was expected, that is, the "Together We Win" coalition would take about 10-15 municipalities.

The first argument was the argument of abandoning the elections, this space the DP will suffer for at least a decade. In local elections, it is not easy to defeat the incumbent mayor. In Lezha, for example, the SP would not be able to win if the president was from the DP. They abandoned Lezha. Even in the case of Tropoja, if DP did not abandon it in 2019, SP's victory would be very difficult.

Second, the split within the DP was wrong, ill-conceived, perhaps an electoral solution to understand who had the majority within the DP, but in electoral terms it was a disaster. The third version, the campaign was wrong. Instead of focusing on the local candidate, they tried to do something, like Këllici, but in the second two weeks they disappeared, from the focus of the campaign to the political campaign. The colt was more attractive in the first two weeks.

Fourth, focus on a negative campaign. DP has overturned and won when it campaigned positively. Elections are not rejection, but approval. You choose to give the okay to a political force and not to remove a force without knowing who is coming" , said Fevziu.

Asked by Ylli Rakipi if the election result is influenced by vote buying and the use of state machinery, Fevziu said that vote buying cannot be used as an excuse for a decade, because it means that the opposition leadership is incompetent . 

"The elections had equality problems. They didn't have the seal, the sigla, the funding, they were divided, Berisha's name was not in the coalition. There was talk of a salary increase in the middle of the campaign by the government, which is not honest. It was made clear that it would not to support the mayors who come from the opposition, but these things were known before and the opposition said it would win.

The state machinery has been at work. Vote buying? I do not know. You say this once, twice, three times, but you can't postpone a decade with this. Or you are disabled then and don't go to the polls. Vote buying did not happen on Sunday afternoon, it was known. A thing, even when it is true, becomes unbelievable when it is said so many times. A political force cannot come to power if it does not win Tirana. In Tirana, the difference is 60 thousand votes", declared Fevziu.
