Albert Mëlyshi was one of the seven candidates of "Bashke Fitomje" who managed to defeat the Socialist Party in the local elections of May 14.

In an interview for Klan News, he was asked about the invitation he made to Prime Minister Edi Rama for cooperation.

Mëlyshi said that he did this for the skeptics who thought that there might not be cooperation. Also, the statement of the head of the government during the campaign was the cause. Mëlyshi said that he is ready to cooperate with the prime minister and not only for the interest of Mirdita and Mirdita residents.

"There will definitely be cooperation for those skeptics who thought that there might not be cooperation and it is definitely the duty of the Mayor, but also of the Prime Minister that for the citizens who are elected we can act and cooperate in the interest of the citizens . The way it has been interpreted has become a big fuss. It is nothing more than what citizens expect. The fact that it is interpreted in the media that a mayor of an opposition municipality invites the prime minister, this is something normal, in a European country I believe that both, as the mayor and the prime minister, have responsibilities towards the citizens.

Given that even the Prime Minister's statement during the electoral campaign could have made many skeptics even from the part of the citizens who may have problems in cooperation between them. I wanted to be publicly open with the Prime Minister and the citizens that I will be cooperative not only with the Prime Minister, but with anyone who will help Mirdita and anyone who will cooperate with Mirdita. This was what I wanted to show that I am open to cooperate in the interest of Mirdita regardless of the political force I represent and regardless of which political force the prime minister is. What the prime minister and I have to do is to work maximally in the interest of the citizens, since they have elected us and we must work for them",  said Mëlyshi.

He said that he does not think that there are obstacles from the government. In addition to the latter, Mëlyshi said that he will seek funding from other institutions and instruments such as various projects to address the problems of the municipality that he will address.

"It is not in the interest of the mayor, but with the citizens, any cooperation he will have with the mayor of Mirdita. There are endless possibilities beyond government. Those will also be the paths we will follow. There are instruments, there are endless financial institutions that finance especially for those problems that the municipality has as an emergency today" , said Mëlyshi.

Asked how this can be expected from the right, Mëlyshi said that it is his duty to look after Mirdita's interest.

“Unë kam për detyrë atë çka qytetarët e Mirditës sot më kanë ngarkuar që të merrem drejtpërdrejtë me ato që mirditorët më kanë ngarkuar bashkë qoftë edhe me qeverinë për të mirën dhe interesin e mirditorëve”, u shpreh ai.

Kreu i zgjedhur i Bashkisë së Mirditës foli edhe për situatën në Partinë Demokratike. Ai theksoi se selia blu ka nevojë për një hapje të saj. Kjo është ajo që sipas Albert Mëlyshit duhet të shohë kreu i saj, Sali Berisha grupet e tjera brenda saj.

“Ajo çka realisht PD-ja ka nevojë, unë e kam shprehur dhe më parë, ka nevojë për një hapje të saj. Jo vetëm me ato figura që sot dhe dje PD ka patur brenda saj. PD ka nevojë të zgjerohet me individë që kontribuojnë në jetën sociale dhe shoqërore, me mjekë, infermierë, ekonomistë, me të gjitha profesionet, me njerëz të nderuar që duan të japin kontributin e tyre në interes të shoqërisë dhe Shqipërisë. Me këtë mendoj që Doktor Berisha bashkë me të gjitha grupimet e tjera duhet të shohin parësore. Përpara se të shohim brenda grupeve të caktuara, duhet të shohim atë që ka sot nevojë më shumë se kurrë Shqipëria, për një opozitë të fortë, një opozitë që ka një qasje tjetër ndaj qeverisjes dhe patjetër të denoncojë dhe ngrejë zërin në interes të qytetarëve. Unë mendoj që Berisha duhet të reflektojë rreth kësaj. Duhet të ngrejë grupe pune në mënyrë që të kemi një hapje të PD-së dhe kjo jo për t’i parë si të njerkës dhe të nënës, por si qytetarë që mund të japin kontributin e tyre në interes të PD-së dhe shqiptarëve. Mendoj që këtë duhet të shohë PD-ja dhe doktor Berisha”, said Mëlyshi.
