" A great day for justice ," said the leader of the socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, in the trial of the " Partizani " case, where he appeared today as a witness in the capacity of the accuser.
In a statement to the media, Balla emphasized that he will answer any questions he is asked and will stand by the charges he has made.
"Since 1912, Albania has never been closer to Europe than it is today, and the reason is the reform in justice, which has restored faith in justice. These people in the dock accused me of defamation in 2012. This is a typical case of high-level corruption. 5 percent is corruption. I will answer whatever they ask me, but I stand by my accusation," said Balla.
Today's hearing opens the evidence review phase, where the parties will confront arguments and facts in the courtroom. Initially, the prosecution will present its evidence, starting with witnesses.
Four people have been called to testify today, including Socialist Party MP Taulant Balla , in his capacity as the prosecutor in the case.
In addition to Balla, several former executives associated with the multi-sports club Partizani have also been notified , and they are expected to give evidence on the circumstances of the privatization.
However, it remains to be seen whether they will respond to the court's summons even though appearing is a legal obligation.
