Ilir Meta has submitted a new request to the Special Court to replace the security measure 'arrest with imprisonment' with a lighter security measure.
Meta has offered a 50,000 euro property guarantee in exchange for a lighter security measure being imposed on him.
Meta had previously offered a financial guarantee of 50 thousand euros to the Special Court for leaving the cell, a request which was rejected by the Special Court.
Lawyer Kujtim Cakrani has reacted regarding the request for the replacement of the security measure against PL president Ilir Meta, which was submitted to the court this Wednesday.
Cakrani told reporters that the request provides for a significant financial guarantee, mentioning the amount of 50 million lek, as well as the provision of real estate.
"Yes, yes 50 and real estate, the 'manor' which is more," he said, underlining that the proposed guarantee exceeds the value of the mentioned amount.
The former president has been in prison since October 2024 and faces corruption charges related to the CEZ-DIA affair, the SMI lobbying contract in the US, as well as money laundering and asset concealment.
The case against him and his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi has already gone to trial on the merits.
