Democratic MP Ervin Salianji has gone to the Police Directorate of Tirana, to surrender and start serving his prison sentence.

After leaving the blue headquarters, Salianji spoke to the journalists, thanking those who have supported him. He told reporters "I'll see you soon", as he left to surrender.

"I will go and surrender to the police after this communication. The truth will triumph. I thank everyone for the support, I have not called a protest but I will meet all the supporters there. I thank you very much and I will meet soon", said Salianji.

Salianji will serve a one-year prison sentence at the IEVP of Fier.

Salianji was sentenced to one year in prison by the Court of Appeal of Tirana, for "false report", related to the denunciation of the audio recording known as "Babale", where he claimed to be the brother of Fatmir Xhafaj, Geron Xhafaj.
