Elena Pici has reacted after allusions in the media about her resignation from the position of General Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, that this resignation was related to the action for illegal constructions.

Through a post on social networks, Pici clarifies that she performed her duty with responsibility and integrity, adding that she never had the trust of Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister Bledi Çuçi.

She further says that the resignation was a personal decision and does not coincide with any other event, such as illegal constructions, as reported in the media.

Full reaction:

Although I appreciate that the appointments or dismissals of General Secretaries should not constitute news, as long as we are simply public servants in the administration, in the conditions of an untrue report that is circulating in the media, I feel the duty to clarify that part of interested public opinion that:

I have had the privilege of having the continued confidence throughout the two years of the Prime Minister and the Minister in carrying out an important public duty, that of the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior, a duty which (against all the media speculation, in some cases malicious at the moment of my appointment), I feel that I performed it with full responsibility, with professionalism and integrity and always supported by the team of the Ministry of the Interior.

For anyone who will believe the facts and not the rumours, the decision to develop my career in other sectors is entirely a personal decision and does not coincide with any other event or issue as reported in some media.

Every speculation and insinuation that is raised can serve the interests of others, but never the truth!
