Analyst Baton Haxhiu believes that Prime Minister Edi Rama has given Kosovo's counterpart Albin Kurti 72 hours of political breathing space before the EU and the US apply sanctions if the situation in the north of Kosovo does not calm down.
In a link to the 'Opinion' show, Baton Haxhiu said that Kosovo and Prime Minister Kurti are currently facing sanctions.
"There has been communication between Prime Minister Rama and Albin Kurti for 2-3 days. And what Mr. Even when Rama proposed the draft, he wanted political breathing for Albin Kurti. This political breather gave him 72 hours to embrace de-escalation which is the A of what he must undertake.
Mr. Kurti and Kosovo are facing sanctions and the sanctions are almost written, first they come from the EU and then from the USA. There are all written. We are just waiting for the moment when they come into force. The main problem for those who know that they are sanctions, they are difficult to reverse and stay for a long time.
The first, to make the government aware, the second to make the citizens aware of who they should vote for, the third shows the Albanians of Kosovo that at a political moment they are ungrateful for what the international community has done. This moment belongs to all of Kosovo. Should Kurti be sanctioned as Prime Minister".
Baton Haxhiu believes that Edi Rama is currently the only person who, according to him, can save Kosovo in this current situation.
According to Haxhiu, Rama's decision to cancel the meeting between the two Albanian-Kosovo governments was taken in cooperation with internationals.
"Nothing is done without international consultation. Rama has 2 addresses, one in the USA and two in Brussels. Today in the morning he talked with Borrell to gain time with Mr. Kurti. The only savior at this moment of the Albanians of Kosovo is Edi Rama. At this moment, he is the only savior because he has no other address in Kosovo. There is no more dialogue. There is only a signature", said Baton Haxhiu.
