Cancellation of the intergovernmental meeting, Kosovo reacts: Unilateral
Albin Kurti and Edi Rama

After Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the Albanian delegation will not participate in the intergovernmental meeting that was planned to take place on Wednesday in Gjakova, the first reaction from the Kosovo government has arrived.

Kosovo government spokesman Përparim Kryeziu says that the decision to cancel the meeting was unilateral.

"Bilateral meetings could be held every other day. We are quite close to each other as countries. It wouldn't be the first time we would meet in the same day. But it is the first time that a joint meeting is canceled unilaterally", says the spokesperson of the government of Kosovo.

Kryeziu also underlines that Rama's decision to cancel the meeting will affect the citizens the most, since the 13 bilateral agreements that were to be signed will remain suspended.

"The joint meetings are a great organizational undertaking, preceded by a great deal of work by the ministries to prepare that day. Tomorrow, 13 new agreements would have to be signed. They were intended to bring our economies, our systems of justice, education, culture, etc. closer together. It is the citizens who will lose the most. Unfortunately, the cancellation of the meeting by Prime Minister Rama canceled the opportunity to sign them ", he says.

Prime Minister Edi Rama declared on Tuesday evening that the anticipated meeting cannot take place in the planned format, due to the developments in the north of Kosovo, and instead Rama requested a closer meeting only with Kurti and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and of Defense.
