The head of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats, Lulzim Basha, says that in the next parliamentary elections he will run with open lists and with 140 deputies.
Although he does not yet have an official party, Basha expressed optimism during an interview with journalist Dafina Hysa in Top News, about his confrontation in the elections with the duo Edi Rama and Sali Berisha.
"We are at the stage of finalizing the list of our candidates for deputies. In a few weeks they will be made public. The list will be consolidated. The consensus of the chairman of the party and the National Council is to extend the closing of the lists, but in any case we will compete with our open lists of 140 candidates", said Basha.
When asked about the departure of Enkelejd Alibeaj from his group, Basha said that he will not forcefully keep anyone near him.
"I didn't follow them, because wasting energy with pointless discussions with each other serves to penalize all Albanian citizens. We give the Albanians a complete alternative. Anyone who sticks to these decisions will continue the journey, no one is forcibly kept in our ranks", added Basha.
Further, Basha attacked the current chairman of the DP, Sali Berisha, saying that he is using the party as a personal shield against SPAK.
"Berisha wanted the Democratic Party to use it as a shield, and this became clear the day he was called for the accusations before SPAK called the porotesta. That PD is worn out, it can't stand up even to make a protest to defend itself. At night he bargains with Rama, and then pretends to attack Rama. Let's abandon the duopoly of Edi Rama and Sali Berisha once and for all and choose a program with deputies who respond to them and put the citizens' interest above their own," continued Basha.
