The Head of the European Union Delegation, Ambassador Silvio Gonzato, stated today that reform in the justice system and its consolidation is one of the key elements in Albania's European integration process and a priority of the EU.
He made these comments at the launching ceremony of the first EU project dedicated to the Albanian School of Magistrates.
Ambassador Gonzato affirmed that consolidation of the justice reform and its results in the fight against corruption and organized crime is currently a priority of Albania's European integration, and the EU Delegation is giving all the support to independent institutions through various projects.
He called on magistrates for integrity, professionalism and independence in their work after their studies.
Gonzato stressed that the EU has also engaged with the special commission in the House on deepening reforms and good governance, so that all the achievements of the justice reform can be further consolidated, as he said, and see not only punishment but also prevention in the fight against corruption and organized crime.
The School of Magistrates launched today the first EU-supported project, where it will benefit from three schools of magistrates known in Europe such as Italy, France and the Netherlands.
"This is an excellent opportunity for the School of Magistrates, that this will be done by the appropriate professional exchanges, and will offer the best European practices and standards. The reform process was a challenging and necessary process. The vetting process is unprecedented and has shown the different levels and ways of corruption in the old system and helped to exterivate it. New institutions have already been created, and significant results are being seen in the fight against corruption and organized crime. It is important not to remain behind the spirit of the justice reform, considering elements that can improve its implementation, protect its integrity, while increasing its results, as citizens expect," Gonzato said.
Speakers at today's conference, representatives of the justice system, lecturers and jurisdiction experts stressed that all justice institutions should cooperate more strongly to increase the results of the new justice bodies in the fight against corruption and organized crime, while Western diplomats asserted that these institutions have and will have full international support in these efforts, We will always be there for you and ready to support you.
Part of these efforts is also the support of the School of Magistrates, which it independently walks alongside the reform process, preparing good judges and prosecutors with ethics and high professional skills.
