The head of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, has not ruled out the possibility of cooperation with the government in the future for the interests of the citizens who voted for him. He said that if the opposition will continue to have the same problems, then PAA cannot remain hostage to these problems.
"There is time for the parliamentary elections, but if the opposition can have the same problems, it is open to cooperate with the SP even if I don't want to. We cannot remain hostage to the problems that the opposition may have. If the approaches we have will have positive solutions from the government, which so far has not worked out for us. We have introduced a draft law on agriculture that was also supported by the majority deputies, but it was not approved" - said Duka on Report TV.
For Duka, the situation within the opposition and the division in the Democratic Party will end only when the leaders put aside their personal egos. Regarding the poor result of the Berisha-Meta coalition in the May 14 elections, Duka said that he never expected something like this, saying that he thought that the opposition would win up to 15 municipalities.
"The biggest problem is the serious problems of the DP, the leaders of the DP should leave their egos so that the Democratic Party itself can unite and be ready for the parliamentary elections. The opposition has been out of the system for its own fault because it did not participate in the elections. Now the opposition is in the system, I never said that we win the majority of municipalities, but I said that we get a certain number. I never thought there would be 7 municipalities, I thought there would be 10 or 15. If the opposition tries not to see only its own ego, we can have parliamentary elections where the opposition can take the lead" - added Duka .
According to Duka, there should be complaints about the buying and selling of votes, but he added that the final result would not be affected as in the case of the municipalities of Shkodra, Tirana, Durrës and Elbasan where the opposition candidates won convincingly.
"I say that despite various violations, the results with such a large margin do not allow you to contest the elections and suspect that the elections were stolen. Like in Tirana, Elbasan, Durrës, but what surprised me the most was Shkodra, to be honest, seeing the big difference in victory. If cases where votes were bought are documented, it is very good to do so because the buying and selling of votes in Albania must end. I do not think that the final result could be influenced in any of these municipalities. Propaganda and the way of making propaganda by the prime minister has been his skill" - said the Duke.
