Political parties have benefited almost 20 million euros from the state budget in the last 10 years. According to the data calculated by Open Data Albania, this figure was divided among 51 parties from 2011 to last year. This amount does not include the budget and funding for this year's campaign.

16 million euros were given as annual funding for the parties, while the rest is money that was allocated for their support in the electoral campaigns of 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021. Budget expenditures as support for Political Parties for Election Campaigns have been in the amount of 65 million ALL until 2021, while this year these transfers have doubled to 130 million ALL.

Public funding for electoral campaigns for Political Parties amounts to 27 percent of the total public funding for parties during the years 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, while in 2021 it constitutes almost half or 47 percent of the annual total.

On average, in an electoral year, 265 million ALL were transferred from the State Budget as support for political parties, while in non-electoral years, 170 million ALL or 36 percent less were allocated to the parties.

Treasury records show that the Socialist Party has received the most financial support, followed by the Democratic Party. Until 2021, 50 parties benefited from budget money, while in 2022 Nisma Thurje was added to the list./ Vox News
