The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has confirmed that he will run against Edi Rama for the post of Prime Minister in the May 11 elections.
"It goes without saying. It's obvious, there's no question about it," Robert Hasa answered the journalist's question .
The chief democrat added that if he wins the elections, a vote for Prime Minister will be opened and whoever wants to challenge Sali Berisha will be able to do so.
Asked if he would withdraw if the US and British ambassadors asked him to, Berisha said he would not.
Sali Berisha: It goes without saying. It's close to my heart, there's no discussion, but of course after I win the elections, a vote for Prime Minister will be opened, whoever wants to challenge Berisha. When the race opens, it's not opened by the SP but by the opposition or citizens, whoever wants to, that's normal.
I don't follow the actions of my opponent. I invited him to come and face me in a television studio, he can't stand it, he's afraid of himself. I know he'll come out of that show "naked" with what he's proven to Albanians with his exploits. That's why he doesn't come out.
What if the British ambassador and the American ambassador go up to the DP office and tell you to leave and elect another candidate?
Sali Berisha: The problem is that these experiments were done with Sali Berisha and they failed, they drank water, and in a more difficult time. It cannot happen, the essence of this whole process was that Albanians should decide for themselves .
