A group of neurons is responsible for the so-called First Night Effect. It's about the lack of sleep when we change beds.

These nerve cells are activated when a person is in an unfamiliar environment. Their genesis is from a primitive mechanism that activates them and serves to keep the brain alert.

In prehistoric times, humans had very strong defense mechanisms, as the unknown was dangerous and activating them ensured survival.

Even in this case, an extension of this brain defense mechanism continues to be functional and is observed in all mammals, including humans, when they have to adapt to a new environment.

The First Night Effect has been known in medicine for decades, but the cause of this cerebral mechanism was still unknown.

This discovery, carried out by Nagoya University in Japan, has been published in the journal of the American Academy of Sciences PNAS and is considered quite important, as it will help in the creation of future medications against insomnia or similar disorders.
