"I gave my 13-year-old son a loan with 10% interest." This is what Ermal Mamaqi said in an interview for Grida Duma Podcast, where he shared his philosophy on children's financial education and the importance of responsibility from a young age.

Mamaqi said that his family avoids limiting statements like “we don’t have money” or “we can’t afford it,” preferring an approach that encourages children to think creatively about solutions. According to him, even when a wish cannot be realized immediately, children are taught to reflect on how they can achieve it through effort and planning.

During the conversation, he also shared a specific case, when his son asked him for a device worth around 500 euros, a situation that turned into a practical lesson on money management and understanding its value.

"He didn't have any money and one day he told me: I found the solution, you have to give me a loan. We did the calculations and I said: you won't give me 500, but 550, with 10% interest, like in a bank. He started saying I have to work harder because I have a loan. It was the first time he understood financial responsibility," he said.

Mamaqi said that she financially motivates children for reading and homework. For each book read or task completed, they receive a certain amount, which they can save and use as they wish.
