The use of cars in Albania, "Audi" takes over "Mercedez

In the fourth quarter of 2023, there are a total of 867,765 road vehicles with "active" and "temporarily deregistered" status circulating in the territory of the Republic of Albania. About 700,000 vehicles or 80.6% of the total belong to the "Cars" category.

"Scan Intel" has analyzed the INSTAT data to see the distribution of road vehicles according to counties. In concrete figures, we say that in Tirana during the fourth quarter of 2023, about 300,000 vehicles or 34.7% of the total road vehicles registered in the country were in circulation, in the district of Durrës there were around 117,000 vehicles, which constitute 13.4% of the total road vehicles.

Meanwhile, at the other extreme, i.e. with the lowest number of road vehicles, are the counties of Kukes and Gjirokastra with 20,300 and 18,900 vehicles in total. In nominal terms, we say that only 2.2% and 2.3% of the total funds are used by the citizens of the two respective counties.

The vehicles that circulate in our country are of different brands, but the brands with the highest circulation are "Mercedez Benz" and "Volkswagen", where the latter is used by 15.8% of drivers.

If we do a more inductive analysis, i.e. from the total number of funds, how many funds were registered for the first time in each district, the figures show that during the fourth quarter of 2023, a total of 52.1% more funds were registered than in the same quarter of the year passed. After processing the data, it is noticed that the district of Tirana and that of Durrës have had the highest registrations of new vehicles, that is, that have entered circulation for the first time in the territory of the Republic of Albania. This is also related to the fact that mainly the population is concentrated in these two counties.

If we compare the registrations carried out for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2023 with the same quarter of 2022, we say that the change was higher in the district of Gjirokastra with a 75.6% increase, then the increase continued in the district of Vlora with 63.69% and Shkodra with 58.8%. In other districts of the country, this increase belongs to the range of 35%-55%. Meanwhile, in terms of preferred brands, we say that Audi is the brand with the highest growth, so compared to the last period of 2022, 94.1% more vehicles were registered for the first time, followed by brands such as "Volkswagen" and " Mercedes Benz", where the nominal increase is 65.1% and 55.1%, respectively.
