Apple phones are generally considered more secure than Android because the company has been providing security and operating system upgrades to older models for years. However, ESE cybersecurity expert Jake Moore has provided some advice regarding iPhones.
When Apple stops providing security support for its old phones, it always informs the public and users about it in order to warn them of the potential danger and basically advise them to change the phone.
The expert states that with new versions of operating systems, an older generation of mobile phones loses support for iOS and security updates. When the recently unveiled version of Apple's mobile operating system iOS 18 becomes available, which should be in September, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will lose software support, and not all older models of those devices already have it this support.
"If people are still using phones that are no longer receiving updates, as frustrating as it is, they should consider replacing them with newer, more secure devices," explains ESE cybersecurity expert Jake Moore.
When asked what to do with older Apple phones for which the company no longer releases security updates, Moore says it would be better to throw them away.
