Today, February 14, Valentine's Day is celebrated around the world, associated with the figure of Saint Valentine, a bishop and early martyr of Christianity, who is considered the patron saint of engaged couples.
He is believed to have lived in the 3rd–4th centuries and was among the first bishops of Terni in Italy, known for his holy life and spreading the message of love.
According to church tradition, Valentine was imprisoned during the reign of Emperor Aurelian and executed on February 14, 273 in Rome for his faith. His relics are said to still be preserved in Terni.
Over time, the holiday took on a broader meaning and became a symbol of love and devotion between people, preserving the message that true love requires sacrifice, loyalty, and sincere dedication to another.
