We all know the common symptoms of stress, such as neck and back pain, shoulder discomfort and muscle spasms, but did you know that your body has other ways of telling you that you are stressed?

Here are what they are:

1. Noise or buzzing in the ears. Also known as tinnitus, this noise tells you that you are very stressed. These sounds can be intermittent or constant and can vary in loudness, says the South African Association of Audiologists. If you already suffer from tinnitus, stress can make the symptoms you are experiencing worse.

2. Oblivion. Having trouble remembering certain information? Stress could be the culprit. An article on the impact of stress on the body revealed that stress affects the human nervous system in several ways and can cause changes in different parts of the brain. This can result in changes in memory and cognition.

3. Weight loss. You may recognize weight gain as a result of stress eating, but rapid weight loss without dieting is also a sign that you may be under too much stress. Studies have shown that stressful experiences can be challenging in terms of food deprivation. This can lead to a lack of desire to eat resulting in weight loss.

4. Unexplained anxiety attacks. If you suddenly experience continuous sneezing or sudden chest pain, know that stress can cause unexplained anxiety attacks. According to a study, anxiety can be considered a disease that affects the mind and body, often with serious results in patients with high levels of psycho-social stress.

5. Teeth grinding. Did you know that stress can cause you to wake up with sore jaws? This is probably because you grinded your teeth in your sleep. Teeth grinding is known to be more prevalent in men than in women, especially among university students. Teeth grinding can also be related to stressful and unhappy circumstances.
