Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated during his annual conference that this is most likely his penultimate and perhaps even his last annual speech as president of the republic.

"This is certainly his penultimate and probably last annual speech as president of the republic. It is very possible that it will be the last ," Vučić said, leaving open the possibility of heading towards early elections in 2026.

We recall that he has fulfilled the main demand of the opposition and students who have been protesting in the squares for several months, by announcing the holding of early parliamentary elections in the coming new year, 2026.

This statement followed the student initiative to collect signatures across Serbia, demanding the announcement of early parliamentary elections.

Vučić said that the roadblockers wanted to create, like in Ukraine, the revolution called "Maidan", by plunging the country into chaos with the occupation of the buildings of the Presidency and the National Assembly.

According to the president, they would have succeeded if there had been no popular resistance.

"We have accepted their main demand. Next year we will go to parliamentary elections, but they will not be so happy when they count the votes. We will go to elections to defeat our political opponents, who are without a program and without ideas in every city of Serbia."

"More than 25,000 illegal rallies were organized. They blocked traffic and tried to cause casualties. That's why I say they wanted to create a Maidan, creating chaos. Elections are not won with lies, but with real work, fighting for the citizens of Serbia, fighting for the people," he said a few days ago.
