Moscow accuses Ukrainian forces of carrying out an attack with nearly 100 drones on Russian President Vladimir Putin's residence in the Novgorod region. The accusation was immediately denied by the Ukrainian presidency.

"These are just lies," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared a few minutes later, stressing that such an attack could seriously undermine the negotiations currently underway on the conflict.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow would review its negotiating position, describing the situation as "the final transition of the Kiev regime to a policy of state terrorism."

Lavrov added that the "objectives and timelines" of a Russian response have already been determined, but stressed that Russia has no intention of withdrawing from the negotiation process related to the peace plan.

On the other hand, accusations against Moscow also came from a Ukrainian government minister, who called on the world to condemn what he called a "false claim" of a Ukrainian attack on Putin's residence.

"Russia aims to create a false excuse for further attacks on Ukraine," he added.

Putin's residence that was allegedly targeted in the attack is located near Lake Valdai, near the village of Dolgiye Borody, within a national park, and is considered a luxury residence.

Although the official residence of the Russian president is the Kremlin, Putin owns several other villas across Russia, including one in Novo-Ogaryovo, on the outskirts of Moscow, which was the target of a Ukrainian attack in 2023. But that was another phase of the war.
