US President Donald Trump has presented Hamas with a new proposal for a comprehensive deal: the release of all hostages (living and dead) on the first day of the deal in exchange for the release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners, including hundreds of Hamas members.
Israel will also halt its operation to occupy Gaza City, Channel 12 reported this evening.
Trump will directly manage negotiations to end the war. Hostilities will not resume until the talks are concluded. Hamas has not yet responded.
Israel is reportedly ready to accept Trump's proposal. According to a source close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel is "considering very seriously" US President Donald Trump's new proposal to release the hostages and call for a ceasefire.
"Apparently, Hamas will continue to refuse," the source says.
Trump's proposal calls for the release of all hostages on the first day of the ceasefire and, if subsequent talks bear fruit, an end to the war in Gaza.
Israel considers it impossible for Hamas to accept such an offer.
