Trump: Egypt and Jordan will welcome Palestinians from Gaza
Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has insisted on his idea that Jordan and Egypt should accept Palestinians displaced from the Gaza Strip, even though Amman and Cairo refused.

"They're going to do it. We do a lot for them and they're going to do it," Trump said, responding to a reporter who asked how he thought he could convince the governments of both countries to change their positions.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Jordanian King Abdullah II categorically rejected on Wednesday the idea put forward by Trump of transferring Palestinians from Gaza to their own countries.

"The displacement and removal of Palestinians from their land is an injustice in which we cannot participate," the Egyptian president said.

The Jordanian monarch stressed in a statement "Jordan's firm position that it is necessary for the Palestinians to remain in their lands" and be allowed to see their legitimate rights realized based on the two-state solution.
