Trump: Gaza ceasefire still in effect

US President Donald Trump said the ceasefire in Gaza remains in place, despite recent tensions in the region. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after a visit to Mar-a-Lago, Trump commented on the current situation between Israel and Hamas.

“Yeah, they’ve been pretty loud,” Trump said, referring to Hamas’s recent actions. However, he added that he believes the militant group’s “leadership” was “not involved” in the latest incidents.

The Israeli army announced yesterday that it had launched a new wave of attacks on Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, following the first bombardment in the same area earlier today, claiming that this was in response to Hamas attacks, which the Palestinian organization denied.

"In response to the flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement earlier today," the Israeli army "launched a series of strikes against Hamas terrorist targets in the southern part of the Gaza Strip," the army statement said, as Israel and Hamas accuse each other of violating the ceasefire that has been in effect since October 10.
