German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has declared that he will do everything possible to prevent an escalation of war between Russia and NATO member states, after Berlin this week authorized the delivery of Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev.
"We have done everything possible to prevent an escalation of the Ukrainian conflict into a war between Russia and NATO states. We will do everything to ensure that this does not happen," said Scholz.
On the other hand, the German chancellor has declared that he will continue to contact the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to ask the latter to stop the war in Ukraine, foreign media report.
